The University of Cosmetology and Spa Business (UCSB) has always offered English to second-language users, which has proven to draw the students’ interest. With the incorporation of English in the knowledge areas, we decided to expose how English could be applied in the UCSB Gold SDL Training as a vehicle to reach English-speaking people who come to the university for cosmetology or spa treatments, as well as reflexologists and estheticians training. So we decided to develop an application called UCSB Phone that allows faculty and staff to view their information from different systems in UCSBgold using their smartphones anytime and anywhere. To use UCSB Phone, faculty and staff must be on the list of UCSB Phone whenever their data is chosen to be viewed. We will conduct a usability expert evaluation and a field study in the summer of 2015 with UCSB faculty to obtain their feedback.
