Using the persuasive essay as a prewrite, students will learn to create 1-hour research projects on a variety of topics. This can be a classroom activity or a summer learning program event where students explore and develop positions on a purposeful topic through constructive written and spoken discourse. It culminates into a variety of persuasive advocacy activities online and offline.
A. Persuasive Essay Writing Lessons and the Persuasive Essay that is Written: The goal is to move students through the writing process with the end result being a persuasive essay. In this 5-6 week unit, students will learn and use a variety of writing strategies, as well as brainstorming, organizing, using graphic organizers, and making an outline. They will also learn how to write a persuasive speech using the RAFTS technique.

The Technique List and Definition/Mapping is the first section of the worksheet. It involves the construction of a technique list and then utilizing the definitions of the techniques in a chart format throughout the essay.
