1. Introduction

The aim of this research project is to further develop an understanding of how changes in the distance to the CBD and changes in the quality of renovations affect the sale price of a house. This will be an important topic for the housing industry as a better understanding of these variables will help inform builders and developers how to make their products more attractive to buyers and also help sellers in deciding what features of a house can be improved to maximise their capital gain. The researchers also have a personal interest in this topic as it will help inform future property buying decisions.

2. Literature Review

The social identity and self-categorization process is said to occur when a person’s identity is defined in terms of their membership to social groups. According to this theory, a person has not subjective identity that is constant across situations. Rather, the person is a collection of self-representations that change from one situation to the next. This change occurs as the social context changes the salience of a particular identity. 4. Expected Results
