The first time critical thinking was documented is believed to be in the teachings of Socrates, recorded by Plato. Socrates established the fact that one cannot depend upon those in authority to have sound knowledge and insight, he taught people to question everything. And reflective thinking and judgment are not in themselves but only in so far as reflective thinking as guided by the standards of what properly thinking through the content of what one has learned. However, what is happening is not always people can example their practice in critical thinking. 3. Benefits of Developing Critical Thinking Skills

By understanding what critical thinking is and learning about its various benefits, you can gain a better understanding of how to use it in everyday life. First of all, it gives you the ability to handle any new information with ease. Suppose you work in a working environment and your boss gives you a project to handle. He sets down all the details and asks you for your views. With the abilities of critical thinking, your boss will be much at ease and even sometimes impressed by the quality of your analyses. That is because critical thinking rewards those who are organized and methodical, serving to make the work of those being more efficient and innovative. Also, it is a very powerful tool to have in life in general. Referring to contents in the previous stages of critical thinking development, opinions are particularly highly in the second stage – thinking. When we reach the third stage – judgment, we start to listen to others’ views and include them to help us reach greater success. Thanks to adopting written critical thinking as a dearest friend which always has the answer to every check and question. I am always in the position of power and confidence to compare with many others who are not ready yet to share the light of the truth with their mind. Additionally, it contributes to better decision making. In such a fast and competitive world, decisions need to be made faster and they need to be the most effective and rational ones. With the use of critical thinking, those views change. Critical thinking promotes rational decision-making, which can make us self-respect and independent to choose what to believe. Finally, critical thinking processes help us to develop self-actualization, the personal quality of independently creating what we believe with confidence of success and the unshakeable. Every person has two points of view, the first that something is and the second that something is not. Because we were taught to judge in our critical thinking processes. Every step of our life is ourselves making decisions, forming our own theory in our everyday lives. And when we use critical thinking we start understand personal qualities such as leadership and self-compassion etc. Last but not least, I find it very crucial. It is because it will lead people to be responsible for their own life and manage it and it will lead to evolution. By letting self-actualization take control on the way we think and challenge doubt until the right answer appears in front of us, it manages our state of emotion, for example frustration and anger. As a result, I will act rationally and not let our emotions take the lead. This is just simply the spirit of critical thinking.

4. Strategies for Enhancing Critical Thinking

For our students and/or ourselves, critical thinking can be divided into the following learning development proficiency levels: acquiring knowledge; comprehension; application; analysis; synthesis; evaluation and the ‘sixth critical thinking’: “Strategies for Enhancing Critical Thinking”.

First, when teaching critical thinking, you need to have a clear idea of what critical thinking is. If you take this idea one step further, you might begin to notice that a lot of various arguments for use in critical thinking are centered around an assumption that we really ought to do an awful lot of thinking. Having undertaken formal learning in critical thinking, we do in fact ‘end up’ thinking all the time. When we use the word ‘critical’ in a context like this, that is too ‘judge’; to pass judgement; to find fault; to evaluate’, that is the opposite of what it is meant to be and that is too negatively. Instead, we should use critical thinking not as negative, but as a route to achieving positive outcomes because the ability of ‘actively and systematically conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing and/or evaluating information’ can be used to enhance work productivity as well as aiding in learning.

While critical thinking skills can show up as a natural talent in some students, it is taught as a series of different strategies and steps for coming to a critical thinking result. These can be used as an organizational, a writing or focus-on-reasoning tool to help either ourselves or our students to learn more about the importance of a logical sequence of evidences. The following are a number of the most effective strategies: teaching them in a specific step by step format; use of activities and practice in each step; and tailor to stages of development for our students or ourselves.

5. Conclusion

In today’s fast-paced, information-overloaded world, students must study not only to recite facts, but to investigate, solve problems, and think critically. In the modern world, critical thinking is one of the aspects of education, and it can be applied to a variety of situations, from simple problems to complex issues. Students with critical thinking training will develop more successfully in life than those without. Students will learn to identify and evaluate evidence systematically, understand emotional and intellectual biases, use or generate credible hypotheses, and assess relevant authorities. This is evident in the book “The Importance of Critical Thinking”. This book lays the primary focus on the importance of critical thinking in contemporary society. One of the most important sections in the book is the fourth chapter, which is largely dedicated to evaluating and avoiding critical thinking’s enemies. Such enemies are not only lived experience and personal aspects, but emotions and moral dogmas as well. These enemies pose a serious threat in an argument as well as to personal critical thinking efforts. When one develops critical thinking skills, they will at the same time reflect assumptions, evaluate statements in terms of evidence, and finally develop arguments. One can pause and ask what the other that has been said means or what the solutions to the problem are. It is also important to know that critical thinking can be divided into the following: first, the thinker must be dedicated to allowing for critical thinking. This means that a person should be open. Open-mindedness starts when, in any case, there is a reason-seeking activity that has been attempted. Second, critical thinking occurs just when the focus is aimed at what is the problem. Students must be allowed to share ideas because without this form of engagement from them, it is likely that there will be no critical society to talk about. Lastly, critical thinking takes practice. Whether in the workplace or in one’s personal life, the goal of learning today is measured not just in managing facts or having an understanding of material, but on the quality of one’s thinking. And when we try to develop the key, the book “The Importance of Critical Thinking” comes into play. All in all, the development of critical thinking skills for the foundation of a critical society may be seen as the path in the progress of society. Thanks to creativity, human curiosity, and the interesting aspects of the challenge. All of these are the main ingredients in the progress of modern society.
