1. Introduction

The aim of this research is to thoroughly analyze ___, which has become a major talking point in Japan. The researcher wishes to maintain a certain distance from ___ under the premise that ___ is in its advancing stages and will become a major industry, consequently expanding society’s knowledge of ___. The researcher believes that by maintaining this distance from ___, it becomes possible to discard the current image of ___ as a ___ style gaming tool and view it more as a technology that will increase the richness of people’s lives. For example, if a ___, a member of society or even a patient suffering from ___ is to encounter the ___, it is possible that it may work together with ___ to enhance its function and in turn increase the ___ of the person or patient. In order for this advancement to be known and understood by ___, communication between the developers of the ___ and people in a variety of professions is crucial. ___ is ___, therefore if the developer wishes to create a scenario using ___ along with ___, it is necessary to go through the correct legal process that is required for ___ and medical equipment in order to gain an accurate understanding of whether the scenario produced will be ___ and whether it can in actuality ___ the patient or ___ suffering from ___. As the understanding will be sought from persons who are treating the patients and ___ we can assume that an exchange regarding ___. ___ and medical equipment is intended ___ and indeed ___ from the developer will ___ some kind of ___ from the person who is treating the patients or ___. In this case it may be ___ to clarify or make changes to the scenario in order to ensure that it holds ___ to the ___ personnel and ___ in a trial and error process.

2. Literature Review

Another important part of your literature review is to relate your subject to the Japanese Society. This is important to the theme of the class as well as the fact that certain research has not been done in Japan and can be an interesting area for any future research you decide to do here. This can be done as a separate section or mixed in with the general subject literature review.

What I want to see in your Literature Review is a critique of the methods, data collection, and/or results from different sources. One method to approach this is to compare and contrast dissimilar views on the subject, to find out why there are differences, and state how each view contributed to your overall understanding of the subject. This makes for some interesting writing when you have an opinion on which source is methodologically better or more trustworthy than another. Your review can be an informal group of notes that you continually rearrange until you think it makes sense, or be more of a proper essay. Whichever form it takes, I will be looking for clear, insightful critical thinking and analysis. Reason and state why you believe what you have written and refer back to the sources to make sure your statements are credible. This will provide a solid foundation and direction for the research and writing in your Project #1-4, a lot of which will come directly from the literature you review.

The aim of “The Literature Review” in your research proposal is to provide a place for you to collect and portray the research around your subject. This is not just your opportunity to display what other writers have done, but to criticize it in a different way, saying your unique point on the subject. It is not just a group that lists the sources and connects them; it is a bit more than that. As mentioned in the research proposal assignment, an ordinary common Literature Review goes something like this: Source one says this, source two says this, source three agrees with source one a little but disagrees with source two…etc.

3. Research Methodology

The research will be conducted in line with an interpretivist research paradigm, from a relativist ontological and subjective epistemological standpoint. The aim is to understand the experiences and attitudes of players who engage in both microtransactions and loot boxes, a qualitative research strategy being the best fit. Alasuutari (1995) describes qualitative research as being focused on discovering the hidden motivations behind actions and attitudes, this is best suited to the research aim. The method of data collection which will be used is semi-structured interviews, mainly through focus groups online. Focus groups are useful as they can examine attitudes of what is a normative practice within video games in a social context. Primarily the focus groups will be conducted with individuals who I have played Destiny 2 with in the past, this will help to bring more detailed discussion as they already have an insight into how I play the game and what level I am at. Unfortunately prior to my PhD there was no data captured regarding the frequency and specific items purchased through microtransactions, therefore the sample will be expanded to Destiny 2 community forums or LFG (looking for group) sites. This will be done in order to obtain a large variety of experiences and to see how different levels of players view this subject. A secondary sample will be FIFA players who have a more knowledge of purchasing specific items with Ultimate Team mode. This was decided in order to gain more data for an upcoming project which involves an intersectional analysis of loot box engagement in comparison with the study of microtransactions in specific games. Both of these focus groups fall under the category of convenient sampling and it is accepted prior to the study that there will be no participants who have not engaged with microtransactions or loot boxes.

4. Expected Results

The expected result of this project is an autonomous, cloud infrastructure based on SLA, which is able to enforce its SLA requirements and adapt to SLA violations by dynamically reconfiguring its infrastructure. The infrastructure shall be driven by business goals, using economic-based techniques to make decisions on reconfiguration. In order to evaluate and demonstrate the effectiveness of the project, the infrastructure will be measured on its ability to meet SLA requirements and the cost to the infrastructure provider. These measurements will be taken in a cloud simulation environment and compared to previous infrastructure as well as infrastructure that does not use autonomous computing. This aims to establish the benefits of using an autonomous computing infrastructure in the cloud. To establish the benefits of running cloud infrastructure based on SLA, a full empirical study will be conducted to compare an infrastructure running with the autonomous infrastructure proposed, infrastructure that still uses SLA but without autonomous features, and infrastructure that is best effort with no concern over meeting SLA requirements. This study will measure the cost and the time taken to carry out user-defined tasks in each scenario and compare this to the satisfaction of task completion based on met SLA requirements. This should show that as user satisfaction will increase as the infrastructure moves closer to meeting its SLA, for a reduced cost due to autonomous features recognizing and correcting SLA violations.

5. Conclusion

This research is the first study that proposes a secondary order consensus method. By incorporating SD with the state-based algorithm and an initial order consensus protocol, this method is able to cope with the changes in a message’s delivery order which invalidated the assumption of matching slots among different processes, while also maintaining the previous delivery order on specific message when no changes occur. This can be seen on the result of safety property of proposed method which is also an enhancement of Theorem 1. If a process P k accepts a message m with sequence number i in R k s[i], then there is no other message with the same content and a higher sequence number accepted in R k, s.t. R k ⇒ R’ k => m’ ⇒ ∼m. Normally, when it comes to order-reflective message, the delivery order of the message will be affected by the previous state transition which probably no same with the current state transition. To overcome this problem, we used an abstraction of current and previous state transition using the concept of state-based algorithms so the message can be delivered according to the current state transition. By doing so, the higher sequence number of message m’ in related to the message m of r k ⇒ r’ k, can be use to create the current state transition instead of using m’ itself. This can be seen on deciding the value of ∆(m’), there is a partial order relation between m and m’ on the same process, so if the partial order relation is going correlate m’ with higher sequence number with m, m’ will be considered as the next event after m. By applying the value of ∆ and considering the partial order relation, the previous higher sequence number of m’ can affect the delivery order without invalidating m and r ⇒ r’.
