The prevalence of computer use among very young age children has increased as computer technology has advanced. In 1994, it was reported that nearly 34% of American children ages three and four had used a computer and almost half (48%) of children aged five to six had used a computer. As access to computers has increased, so too has concerns about the potential impact of this exposure on children’s development. Some researchers and educators suggest that the computer’s arrival in children’s lives demands a corresponding change in developmental theories and educational practices, while others are more conservative. Yet, little is known about children’s actual computer use or its effects. An association between computer use and a wide range of behavioral and cognitive outcomes has been examined in numerous correlational studies; however, the findings are inconsistent and causality is perpetually implied. This methodological report describes the strategies and procedures used in an ongoing experiment designed to test the hypothesis that computer skills training influences academic performance.

2. Research Objectives

These objectives will be investigated through a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods involving interviews, focus groups, and surveys. In the 2nd phase, data will be analyzed to find out the relationships of various factors affecting organization change and for future strategies of organization change. To find out the clear picture about the change within the organization, case studies of different organizations will be done to see what was the situation before the change, during the change, and after the change. This will be very useful to compare the different situations so that the effects are visible. Depth interviews of different persons like managers, employees, etc. will be taken to find out the main reasons for the change, overall scenarios within change, and its current and future effects. Interviews can also be useful to get the solutions of problems within change and for implementing different strategies for better change. Quantitative and qualitative methods will be used to measure the change at the end to see what kind of change has occurred and how it is different from the past and what are the positive and negative effects of the change and what can be done for better change in the future. This can be very useful for evaluating the change process and to find out the strengths and weaknesses of the change.

4. Expected Results

We are expecting that the system will deliver a higher level of accurate information to the users. Results from our early experiments or literature reviews showed that the present system is lacking in providing updated and reliable data to the users. Users are forced to spend more time and cost just to get certain information. By using the new system we will be able to see users spending less time and cost while gaining more valuable information. System information will be more complete and accurate. Users will not need to refer to various sources of information. This will save time as users do not need to cross-reference information from one source to another. The system will encompass all features from various sources and present a complete, organized and clear information to the user. The new system is also expected to encourage more self-directed and evidence-based learning. Users will be more proactive in getting information as using the system will not only provide answers but generate new questions from the information provided. This creates a continuous learning process for the user and increase motivation to learn something.

All road-users are well aware of the existence of the roadside infrastructure that is put in place to ensure their safety while using the roads. The consequences of such accidents can often be quite severe due to the high traffic speeds and proximity of roadside hazards. For this reason, it is especially important to ensure the safety of the road-users on high-speed roads. The road-sides carry different types of elements like trees, poles, traffic signs, culverts and different types of steep slopes and ditches, falls and overturns being one of the most common types of single vehicle crash, occurs when a driver leaves the roadway and plunges into a steep slope, or when the driver loses control on a curve or jump. This often leads to the vehicle rolling over or flipping down the slope. This paper is mainly focusing on how Highway Safety Manual Safety Management Process can be utilized to determine the cost effectiveness of mitigating falls and overturn crash types in New Zealand. A case study site Waioeka on highway 2 located at Bay of Plenty is chosen for this research. A substantial number of falls and overturns crashes were occurred on this site due to immediate existence of number of cut slopes and steep embankments. This research proposal aims to provide a tool for NZTA which manages the data and identifies the most cost-effective strategies for improving road safety and addresses the needs of a diverse group of transportation agencies. This will provide them a systematic way to make safety a central concern in the operation and improvement of their transportation system.
